DUNCAN, Adeline Born May 6th, 1914 passed peacefully on July 23rd,
2009 in Victoria. Born and raised in Victoria, Adeline was a world
renowned Scottish highland dance teacher and adjudicator. She was the
only Canadian to be made an Honourary Member of the Scottish Official
Board of Highland Dancing. Many of her pupils were winners of numerous
championships, including the World's. She lived for highland dancing,
the bagpipes and pipe bands and was keenly aware and supportive up until
the time she passed. Mrs. D" was a remarkable woman who touched many
lives here in Victoria and around the world. Predeceased by her husband
Ian, sister Lillian and grandson Gordon, she will be sadly missed by
daughter, Heather Jolley, grandson Don, nieces and nephews and their
families. A celebration of Adeline Duncan's long and extraordinary life
will take place on Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Fireside Grill, 4509
West Saanich Road, in Victoria from 2:00 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers
donations could be made to the SPCA, the Salvation Army or the Adeline
Duncan Scholarship"
